Google will now ask people writing reviews of Android apps in its online store use their real name, in a bid to eliminate 'trolls', users people who deliberately post upsetting comments online.
Until now, you needed a Google account to use the Play store to download an app, and you could use any nickname.
But now anyone wanting to take part in the reviews community must sign in using a Google+ account, the Daily Mail reports.
According to the paper, insiders said the move is designed to improve the user experience.
Others said it should foster a better atmosphere online, the paper added.
According to the report, anti-bullying campaigners welcomed the move.
"We consider this a good thing, and welcome anything that encourages transparency online," Beatbullying.org said.
