Idea Cellular, which is popularly referred to
as Idea has a market share of 12.77%. The mobile network operators are
based in Mumbai and were the first company to offer flexible tariff
plans for prepaid customer.
5. BSNL
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited which is usually
referred to as BSNL has a market share of 10.93%. Among other services,
the company’s wireless service includes mobile telephony and high-speed
broadband access technology.

Operating under the brand name Tata DoCoMo,
Tata Teleservices is a well known broadband and telecommunications
service provider. Apart from DoCoMo, it offers services under brand
names Virgin Mobile and T24 Mobile. It has a market share of 8.66%.
7. Aircel
One of India’s popular mobile network
operators, Aircel Group follows with a market share of 7.26%. The
company provides wireless voice, messaging and data services the
country.

Uninor is a mobile network operator in India
based in Gurgaon and has a market share of 4.64%. The company is a joint
venture between Telenor Group and and Unitech Group Its major services
include mobile telephony and wireless internet.
9. MTS
MTS India is a subsidiary of Russian
conglomerate Sistema and operates across India with a market share of
1.85%. The brand provides wireless voice, broadband Internet, messaging
and data services in the country.
10. MTNL
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited is popularly
known as MTNL and has a market share of 0.58%. It is a state-owned
telecommunications service provider in the Indian cities of Mumbai and
New Delhi and in the island nation of Mauritius in Africa.
