Gurgaon, Dec 25 An accused in the murder of Kurukshetra University students' union president Virender Singh, who was shot dead last year, was arrested from Delhi, police said here Tuesday. This is the fourth arrest in the case.
"Ajay Kumar, one of the main accused in the murder in the university campus was arrested from Delhi's Najafgarh area," Gurgaon Police Commissioner K.K. Sindhu said.
Ajay was living in Najafgarh for almost a year. The arrest was carried out by the crime branch of the Gurgaon police.
Ajay, a resident of village Kheri Shekhoan in district Kaithal of Haryana is brother of the main accused Vijay Kumar who was arrested few months back.
"Ajay was also studying in
Kurukshetra University and because of a feud, he along with his brother
and other aides shot dead Virender Singh...in broad daylight October 17
last year," Sindhu added.
"Ajay, Vijay and his gang were
also involved in a number of cases involving murder, attempt to murder,
robbery, drugs smuggling and extortion cases in Haryana, Punjab and
Rajasthan," Sindhu said.
Earlier in April, Suresh alias
Tangu was arrested along with his aide, Inderjeet from Bajghera railway
crossing near the Palam Vihar area of Gurgaon for involvement in the
crime.
A few months ago, another accused in the case was killed in a shootout with the Gurgaon police.
