The Tamil Nadu government recently imposed a ban on Kamal Haasan's upcoming film Vishwaroop,
following objections from Muslim organisations. This decision has left
the film fraternity fuming and various celebrities took to Twitter to
oppose it.
R. Madhavan: “Support it like our freedom, in all forms, depends on
it.What are v if we are not free n creative freedom is every tamilians
birth right. Kamal sir is our asset and Pride. How can we let this man
down.If the release is 15 days later then so be it. We will wait with
bated breath."
Prakash Raj: “BAN on vishwaroopam . NOT FAIR. This cultural
terrorism should stop. We should stand for the right to express. We are
with you kamal sir.”
Anubhav Sinha: "Is the TN Govt saying that they do not recognize
CBFC? Or They can't handle law and order? Or they subscribe to the
objection? When a Government needs to ride on a movie star you should
know how intellectually and politically bankrupt they are."
Siddharth: "Ban on 'Viswaroopam' is a regressive, back to the dark
ages blow to Tamil cinema by the Tamil Nadu government…how do we make a
change?"
Anurag Kashyap: "How Can anyone decide what the film is about
without seeing it? and how can the government pander to such groups?
#Vishwaroopam"
Madhur Bhandarkar: "I'm appalled by the TN Govt's decision 2 ban
Kamalhaasan's #Vishwaroopam.After d film has passed by d censor
board.Not done!!!."

The Tamil and Telugu versions of the film will hit the theaters
this weekend, while the Hindi version will release on February 1, this
year.
