Tiger Shroff: My dad didn't want me to become a hero

'Like father, like son' is an adage that just doesn't hold true for Jackie Shroff and Tiger Shroff. If Shroff Sr. is eternally 'bindaas', Jr. is very shy. If Sr. has his informal conversations interspersed with 'bheedu', Jr. maintains his formality right through. If Sr. remembers sleeping through the release period of HERO, Jr. went through sleepless nights promoting HEROPANTI from one city to another.
"You know what; the fact is that my father never wanted me to become a hero. He knew that there is certain expectation from a star-son. He didn't want me to go through that tension. Moreover, this industry was such an alien place for me since I have loved a protected life. Eventually when I got into it, it was a nosedive no less. I had to become total 'besharam'," says Tiger.
Still, was it as straight forward a choice to just get started on a film without taking any tips whatsoever from his dad, considering his three decade long experience?
Says promptly, "My father is not at all involved in my career. As a matter of fact, even my mother never knew what I was doing. Even when I was shooting for HEROPANTI, my father never came to the sets on a single day. He had so much trust in Sajid (Nadiadwala) and Sabbir (Khan) that he knew they would only mean good for me. Moreover, he knows that I am a hard worker. Till date, whenever we are together, we talk about food and family; that's it. We don't talk about films at all."
