1. 263 for 5 (Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Pune Warriors)
The Pune Warriors may no longer be a part of the IPL, but they will always be remembered for the assault they withstood on that particular evening. Gayle scored the highest score ever made in a T20 matches when he smashed 17 sixes en route to his unbeaten 175. Pune never recovered from the shock and ended up posting just half of RCB’s total in reply.
2. 246 for 5 (Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals)
The night belonged to CSK’s opener Murali Vijay. He scored his first IPL hundred that included 11 sixes. But unlike the Pune Warriors, Rajasthan didn’t give up easily. Naman Ojha (94*) and Shane Watson (60) put up a brave fight, but the target just proved to be too much for them. Exactly 469 runs were scored in 40 overs in that game.
3. 240 for 5 (Chennai Super Kings vs Kings XI Punjab)
Just the second game of the very first season and CSK showed their batting might which has been continuing to dominate the IPL till date. They made more than a 150 runs in the last ten overs with Hussey helping himself to a century. Punjab did fight back with the help of James Hopes and Kumar Sangakkara, but eventually CSK won comfortably by 33 runs.
4. 232 for 2 (Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore)
They say legends do the talking in style. Adam Gilchrist just did that. People were starting to question his ability and he just burst out of nowhere smashing a century that included nine sixes. The in form Chris Gayle was dismissed for a duck which ended RCB’s challenge. It was one of the most one sided games that season and Punjab won by a mammoth 111 runs.
5. 231 for 4 (Delhi Daredevils vs Kings XI Punjab)
Not much you can do when the opening partnership in a T20 game scores 146. Sehwag and Warner showed some daredevilry as both made 77. Surprisingly, Chawla was the only Punjab bowler to have an economy under 10. Shaun Marsh threatened to pull off a heist, but couldn’t get the necessary support from the other end. Delhi won by 29 runs with Marsh making 95 off just 46.
